Hello all my brain is finally mushed trying to choose a scope for my son.
I did like the Nikon RA111 or the ED50 but after adding eye piece etc the price quickly rocketed.
The use for the scope will be birding and stargazing

Any help or advice greatly appreciated.

Cheers all one "mushed" DadB :)

Well folks thanks for your advice I went to in-focus at martin mere and met a very helpfull chap called Bernie and after trying many scopes out with my son we ended up with a:
Nikon RA111 Angled +case
Nikon 16X48 DS eyepiece
Velbon delta v tripod complete with hide clamp
More than my original budget but well worth it in our opinion.
Cheers all.
PB
