Male or Female Tree Swallow? Eastern Ontario, Canada

Shot this morning in eastern Ontario, Canada, I think the tree swallow on the right is a male (giving junior a scolding), but I'm not sure about the parent's gender. Could someone clarify?

Pretty sure you can't sex any hirundines.

They seem to be different colours to me, could they be different species, one is greenish (Tree Swallow) but the other seems purplish?
