May finished on a total of 104 species (boosted by a productive final week and so, although it deal feel like a struggle for most of the month) with the year list advanced to 133.

And now for the bad news - other than the 4 winter months of November to February, June has the lowest monthly total with an average of only 91.8 species. Potential additions to the year list include:

Egyptian Goose, Garganey, Greenshank, Wood Sandpiper, Little Owl, Spotted Flycatcher, Whinchat

Tuesday Tern Raft Launch

This Tuesday 5th June.. we will be launching the repaired/refurbished Tern rafts and removing the cover from the large raft still in situ.
For whatever reason our terns have not returned this year well not in in any numbers. We normally wait for numbers to build up before re-launching, which has been in the 3rd week of May in the last few years. But traditionally it was the first week in June so maybe the terns will appear ..fingers crossed.B :)John
We will launch from 9.30 after preparation work. Sorry to anyone birding but hopefully everything will go like clockwork.:t: john
