in case you need more encouragement

Thank you, Paul and Richard, for your regular input. There are still some of us long-standing Bird Forum members who check in daily for the latest news!

Would like to add my thanks for your ongoing efforts as I also check in regularly especially before choosing my next visit around the county. Although currently spoiled with my latest inland dunlin adding to my grey plover at Marlingford full report at

Today's highlight was obviously the adult summer Long-billed Dowitcher, which was on the Serpentine and Arnolds Marsh most of the day, before visiting North Scrape and flying around over Daukes Hide this evening. Other Cley sightings today included Bittern, three limosa Black-t Godwits (including an unringed juvenile), Med Gulls, Common Sandpiper, Snipe & Ruffs etc.
The 3 Otters were in the main cut yesterday, before one was found dead at the Beach Road sluice in the evening, presumably having been hit by a car.

4 x Cranes feeding on corn stubble at Stow Bedon this morning off B1111 before A1075. Observed 7.30am. Flew off 8.00am going in large circles before heading off South West direction (Lakenheath?). My first site of Cranes.

Also at Cley today, 11 Greenshanks, 64 Ruff, 3 Common & 3 Green Sandpipers, 3 Whimbrels and the usual geot'd female limosa Black-t Godwit. I'm told the White Stork reported from Cley/Salthouse/Kelling recently has a Green colour-ring with the alpha-numeric code Z9404 on the right tibia. If so, likely to be a bird ringed in Poland.

Hi CB. I was lucky enough to be in the hide when it flew over Cley. For once we were in the right place at the right time. A birder from Suffolk (with quite frankly amazing ID skills) got photos of the rings at the Iron Road? He also thought it was a Polish bird that had been transported to the UK following some injuries, and then released. Is this consistent with your information?

Rich
