January 1st - Dundee/Balmossie/Barry Buddon

1. Herring Gull - as usual the first of the year, when I opened my curtains.
2. Feral Pigeon - slightly later glance out the window.
3. Bar Tailed Godwit - on shore at Barry Buddon
4. Blackbird
5. Black Headed Gull
6. Blue Tit
7. Bullfinch - 2 males at Baxter Park
8. Buzzard - distant view at Barry Buddon
9. Carrion Crow
10. Chaffinch
11. Coal Tit
12. Common Gull - Swannie Ponds
13. Cormorant - Balmossie
14. Curlew - Stannergate and Balmossie
15. Dunnock
16. Eider - very large raft of birds well offshore from Balmossie
17. Fieldfare - small numbers at eastern cemetery
18. Goldeneye - a few at Balmossie
19. Goldfinch
20. Great Black Backed Gull - a couple with gull roost at Balmossie
21. Great Tit
22. Greenfinch
23. Grey Heron - 1 on flooded area at Barry Buddon
24. Moorhen - 1 at Swannie Ponds
25. House Sparrow
26. Knot - a small group on beach to east of Balmossie
27. Linnet - 1 at Stannergate
28. Magpie - 1 near Barry Buddon
29. Mallard - Swannie Ponds, Balmossie and Broughty Ferry
30. Mistle Thrush - 1 in Baxter Park, and a few at eastern cemetery
31. Mute Swan - 2 at Swannie Ponds, and usual birds at Broughty Ferry
32. Oystercatcher
33. Pied Wagtail - 2 at Balmossie
34. Pink Footed Goose - a few skeins over
35. Red Breasted Merganser - double figures out on the Tay from Stannergate and Balmossie
36. Redshank
37. Redwing - a few at eastern cemetery
38. Robin
39. Rock Pipit - 2 at Balmossie
40. Sanderling - a few on shoreline at Barry Buddon
41. Sparrowhawk - 3 separate sightings - Clepington Rd, eastern cemetery and Barry Buddon
42. Starling
43. Tufted Duck - a few at Swannie Ponds
44. Turnstone - a few at Balmossie
45. Waxwing - 3 separate sightings - 1 at Baxter Park, 1 by TA Centre, and 30+ in eastern cemetery
46. Wigeon - offshore at Balmossie
47. Woodpigeon

January 2nd - Loch of Kinnordy and surrounding areas (with kinnordyvolunteer)

48. Black Throated Diver - great bird to get so early
49. Crossbill - 2 at Backwater Reservoir
50. Dipper - 1 at Reekie Linn, despite very high river levels
51. Goldcrest - 1 at Kinnordy
52. Goosander - Kinnordy
53. Greylag Goose - Kinnordy
54. Jackdaw - Kingoldrum
55. Kestrel - Lintrathen and Kinnordy
56. Lapwing - small flock at Kinnordy
57. Lesser Redpoll - small flock at Kinnordy
58. Pheasant - 2 in fields to north of Kinnordy and a few from car
59. Reed Bunting - Kinnordy
60. Rook - from car
61. Siskin - 1 at Kinnordy
62. Teal - Kinnordy
63. Tree Sparrow - a few at Reekie Linn
64. Whooper Swan - Kinnordy

66. Common Scoter - a few in St Andrews Bay
67. Dunlin - a few in Eden estuary
68. Fulmar - 2 or 3 out over St Andrews Bay
69. Great Crested Grebe - 1 in St Andrews Bay (no Divers though)
70. Little Grebe - at least 3 in front of Eden Estuary Centre at Guardbridge.
71. Long Tailed Duck - around 10 in St Andrews Bay
72. Peregrine - 1 putting up the pigeons at Guardbridge
73. Purple Sandpiper - 5+ on rocks by breakwater at St Andrews
74. Shag - St Andrews Bay
75. Shelduck - quite a few in Balgove Bay
76. Black Tailed Godwit - 25+ on mud by Guardbridge LNR
 
January 4th - Morton Lochs/Tentsmuir Point/Tayport

77. Collared Dove - Tayport
78. Gadwall - Morton Lochs
79. Great Spotted Woodpecker - near Morton Lochs
80. Grey Wagtail - Dundee
81. Jay - Morton Lochs
82. Meadow Pipit - Tayport beach
83. Smew (redhead) - Morton Lochs - makes up for missing the drake at Kinnordy yesterday
