Yah, based on my feedback/comments, I thought I would have been in the top 30, but oh well. I guess it was too much on the edge.

I have absolutely no idea how your image didn't get in. It was perfect for this treatment. I went throught twice looking for it!

Some of them just seem to be conversions, where as your is actually better in b/w. Really shocked its not there. I actually thought the little auks I had posted had a good chance too (again with 20 or so comments), but to not have yours in is a shame as it is a jaw dropper

This is the picture I am talking of;

Mine had the same amount of comments and am I bothered about it not getting through..no I am not.... and it was my Birthday as well!

When we have a competition where there is 2 and a half times the amount of entries than what can go to the final vote there is always going to be more that don't go through than do....after all it is a FUN competition and no prizes.

Some of them? Most of them, I'd say! There's no doubt that the Mods have a difficult job in these competitions, weeding out the best 30 shots but I think they've got it wrong this time. To paraphrase one of the commenters under |)\/8's (catchy name:eek!:) photo, having seen this shot I didn't bother having a go myself as I knew I couldn't beat it. It even drew a 'fab stuff' comment from Nigel Blake

I've never worked how the final 30 are selected.
I must admit that many this month are not ones I would have considered for selection.
On the other hand, I can't have much artisitic taste as the one I vote for never makes the top three. [I won't say who I voted for this time!]

The slideshow does not seem to be working at the moment. I get an "image not found" error message.

Three stunning portraits!

[Apologies to the one I voted for. As usual it was not even in the running. I won't say which one it was.]

Many thanks to everyone who voted for me, I still don't understand how I got short listed as the two I thought were brilliant didn't get through! Black and white is such a difficult subject and I envy those who have a special eye for it! as you are aware this was originally a colour shot which I loved and seem to work pretty well as a B&W. Anyway I will stop rabbiting on now and once again thank you for all your votes, cheers Jamie
