Hi:

I just saw this hawk in my backyard a short while ago.

Can someone tell me what type it is?

Thanks,

Tim

TSA -- first, let me welcome you to Birdforum on behalf of the staff and moderators. We're glad you've come aboard.

Secondly, I tend to agree with Torch. I think it's a Sharpie, too.

Hope you enjoy yourself on the forums!

Thanks for the replies -

After reading your comments, I looked in my field guide and it sure seems to be a Sharp-shinned. Pretty cool. I typically see Red Tails here in Kansas City - maybe the Sharp-shinned are more numerous than I think and I've just missed them to this point, but still quite fun to see this one.

Thanks again,

Tim
