Coney Meadow and Adjoining Areas (2 Viewers)

Now 2 Stonechats together - the other is less well marked - probably a younger male.

Large flock of House Martins over, a few Swallows and Meadow Pipits plus a Peregrine. 3 Yellowhammers.

3 Stonechats together on hedge between Barnhall Farm and Sinton Lane - 2 males and a female.

12+ Yellowhammers, 10 Mistle Thrushes, lots of Meadow Pipits, Skylarks, Linnets, Chiffchaffs, Starlings and Blackcaps plus 2 Sparrowhawks along Sinton Lane.
 
Decent passage of House Martins and Swallows noted over the weekend. Meadow pipits seemed to be moving through in numbers also.

Other birds noted included Kingfisher, Grey wagtail, Coal Tit, Nuthatch, Goldcrests, Cormorants, Grey Heron, Reed buntings and most of the usual species.
 
Two Little Egrets near the confluence on Sunday morning.
A Peregrine on a Pylon near Middleton Grange on Friday morning.
A large flock of House Martins near Barnhall Farm plus a few Swallows on Friday morning.
Kingfisher, Kestrels, Meadow Pipits, Skylarks, Sparrowhawks, Reed Buntings, Blackcaps, Chiffchaffs, Buzzards, Mistle Thrushes, Goldcrests, Pied Wagtails, Cormorants, Yellowhammer, Green Woodpeckers, Grey Herons, Jays etc.
 
A Little Grebe on the river near the confluence yesterday.
50+ Lapwings near there and a Peregrine.

Other species noted over the weekend included Sparrowhawk, Kestrel, Buzzard, Skylark, Meadow pipits, Cormorants, Grey Herons, Kingfisher, Grey Wagtails, Goldcrests, Treecreeper, Chiffchaffs, Jays, Raven, Yellowhammers, Mistle Thrushes, Song Thrushes, Green and Great Spotted Woodpeckers, etc.

A few late butterflies including Red Admiral, Small Tortoiseshell and Peacock. Migrant Hawker dragonflies.
 
A male Cetti's Warbler in full song near Linacre bridge this morning.
2 Siskins over there.
Water Rail calling along the canal near Mildenham.
Greylag over Mildenham.
Several flocks of Redwings over near Knight's Grove.
Meadow Pipits, Skylarks, 2 Coal Tits, Grey Wagtail, Nuthatch, Mistle Thrushes and Grey Heron also seen this morning.
 
A late-ish Swallow near Egg Lane this morning.
Water Rail calling along the canal near Mildenham.
A Little Grebe was on Tapenhall pool.

A Little Egret on floods near Ladywood this morning.
Male Cetti's Warbler singing near Linacre Bridge plus a female calling in Coney Meadow in the overgrown eastern pond.
Coot on Tapenhall pool
30+ Lapwings in several small flocks near the confluence - a couple more Shoveler there.
2 Yellowhammers over Tapenhall pool
Redwings in several places and a few flyover Siskins.
Lots of Meadow Pipits and Skylarks.
 
A single Fieldfare over Droitwich Community Woods this morning - my first of the autumn.

Other species noted yesterday included Nuthatch, Goldcrests, Water Rails calling near Mildenham and at Coney Meadow, Kestrel, Buzzards, Reed Buntings, Cormorants, Grey Heron, Canada Geese, Mute Swans, the usual woodpeckers, Long-tailed Tits, Pied Wagtails, etc.

Cetti's Warbler singing near Linacre bridge.
Flocks of Fieldfares and Redwings in the area.

Sunday 0930. Nothing out of the ordinary, that said, won’t be much around Linacre Bridge this morning if those 2 shady characters in the flooded fields keep shooting anything that moves it seems.
 
Three Common Gulls on floods between Salwarpe and Ladywood this morning.

Cetti's Warbler singing and showing very well near Linacre bridge plus another bird in the area calling.
 
All three Common Gulls were winter adults.

Other birds noted today included Raven near Ladywood, Water Rails near Linacre Bridge and at Coney, Siskin over Hawford Mill, male and female Blackcaps between Ladywood and Salwarpe, Cormorants, Coot on Tapenhall pool, Grey Herons, Redwings, Kingfisher, Grey Wagtail, Fieldfares, Mistle Thrushes, Reed Buntings, Coal Tit, Goldcrests, Treecreeper, Meadow Pipits, Skylarks, Buzzards, Jay, Green Woodpeckers, Song Thrushes, etc.

3 Snipe heard calling as they left Coney Meadow at dusk. Another Cetti's Warbler calling there also. Small roosts of Pied Wagtails and Starlings.

Nuthatch and Bullfinch noted on Friday.

A Peacock butterfly seen today.
