For future reference, why is that?

The guys on here will have more experience than me so they should point you in the right direction, but I've grabbed the lost colours that were over-exposed in your photos and uploaded them here, which may help with identification, but the photos are quite blurred and fuzzy.

Red-throated diver. It’s an adult - and on an adult BTD you’d expect to see the white patches on the upperparts.
