Sri Lanka Raptors (1 Viewer)

Struggling with raptors in Sri Lanka. Two separate birds, first over Dambulla, second over Kandy. Thinking Oriental Honey-buzzard for both, due to pigeon like head. But is this likely due to their rarity? Thoughts would be appreciated.

First thought is Crested Goshawk, I need to check similar species though before I'm sure.

Oriental Honey buzzard, unsure of their status but I saw at least 10 individuals at various sites last winter.

Agree with OHB. I had wonderd about that, but I'm used to see them with their tails a little more fanned out so it threw me off.

Thought that more likely to expect Crested Serpent Eagle instead as I’ve not come across one yet.

Wouldn’t Crested Goshawk not have that wide terminal tailband?

Ive lightened that pic up now for you and in the resultant photo one can see some more detail, including the tail banding. Perhaps there is some further insight now possible. However I am not knowledgeable enough myself to diagnose .

Just got back. Although a family holiday rather than a birding trip, I was surprised of how few birds of prey that I saw.
