Budapest Area, Hungary August 2012 (1 Viewer)

Not a full trip report but a summary of a couple of day's birding during our city break.

Four lifers, Black Woodpecker, Grey-headed Woodpecker, Pygmy Cormorant and Marsh Sandpiper as well as great views of other species I've not seen for a while. It was hard going in the heat, high 30s to low 40s this week. We have a second day planned on Sunday so more to follow

Second day out today and had five lifers, Saker Falcon, Long-legged Buzzard, Caspian Gull, Syrian Woodpecker and last but not least a juvenile Eastern Imperial Eagle.
We also had Great Bustards, Rollers, Bee-eaters, Red-footed Falcons, Hobby, Montagu's Harrier and loads of Marsh Harriers, a flock of 39 Stone Curlew, Red-backed Shrike and strangely in all the heat a flock of Greylags newly arrived for the winter.
We had all the raptors apart from Saker in a single harvested field plus Kestrel there as well.
Unfortunately photo opportunities were virtually non-existent due to heat haze and winds.
