Coney Meadow and Adjoining Areas (6 Viewers)

A Hobby briefly over High Park at dusk.
2 Cuckoos calling.

2 Large Red Damselflies earlier and a single Green-winged Orchid in a pony paddock near Woodbury Cottage.

Decent numbers of House Martins over Copcut.

4Quiet on the patch lately - with no new migrants noted. The best birds were a Little Owl at Ladywood yesterday, a Little Grebe a few days ago on the small pool between Chatley and Hawford and 3 Ravens over Jacob's Ladder plus one male Yellowhammer there.

A 'mixed singer' Willow Warbler just north of Salwarpe - incorporating Chiffchaff phrases into its song. I often get these on the patch. They are generally thought to be Willow Warblers imitating their more common territorial competitors rather than hybrids. It's just nice to hear Willow Warbler song as they have been few and far between on the patch for the last few weeks.

Plenty of Cuckoo action this morning around Coney with 3 birds present.

Little Owl in its normal tree at Linacres paddocks this morning.
Two Cuckoos chasing each other near Mildenham and others nearby, including near the confluence and at Salwarpe.
3 Greylags Hawford and 4 Gadwall
Coot and 4 chicks on Tapenhall pool still
Lapwing over Coney yesterday evening and a pair of Gadwall hanging around yesterday and today.
Muntjac in Knight's Grove woodland this morning and two Hares there a couple of days ago.
Yellowhammers Sinton Lane
Brown Rat Egg Lane yesterday.
All three hirundine sp. around Hawford lock. Swifts in various places.
