IOC World List: website attack? (1 Viewer)

When trying to get on to the IOC site at worldbirdnames dot org via my bookmark list, I was redirected to a 'business' site that seems to have taken it over. I then went in via Google and selected 'Updates' (draft 10.1) which worked fine, but when clicking on 'Home', the 'business' site once again misdirected. However, the 'back' arrow worked to return to 'Updates'.

Now, checking the 'English name updates', I find that in the lengthy list of renaming francolins to 'spurfowl', every (old name) francolin is spelt 'franklin' - that's 16 times.

Are these two aspects linked?

I'm speculating that an intern employed on the site is insufficiently acquainted with birds or words, has got bored, and has done some mischief in inserting redirecting links...:eek!:

I've sent this thread to Frank Gill.

Edit: Frank was already aware and has set about fixing the issues.

Try clearing your cache and cookies. Your system could be remembering the last page you were in.

"[https://]www.worldbirdnames.org/index.php" (the default page of the website) now redirects to "[https://]tomorrowwillbehotmaybe.com/3222?" which is itself a page loader and sends you to a page (not always the same -- nebula[.]biz, neemwear[.]biz, rootus[.]biz, donaldredpage[.]icu, givemeredbottle[.]icu, etc.) which in turn attempts to send you to advertising pages (which presumably generates money for the owner of the last redirecting page, who of course cannot be held responsible for the source of the traffic that reaches his page).

The rest of the IOC website seems untouched, however: you can browse it as long as you don't go to the root directory -- https://www.worldbirdnames.org/[whatever-else], then use the menu bar (but do not click "Home").
