How is your 2020 List Going? (1 Viewer)

One new bird this morning. I heard two other potential new species but was unable to see them, so they won’t be on my Year List until I eventually do see them.

273. Hooded Warbler

Shortly after my last post, I took an early evening walk in the woods behind my house and picked up two new birds for the year.

276. Ovenbird
277. Wood Thrush

Dave

One that I missed from my list yesterday:

166. Common Greenshank

Yesterday afternoon I drove down to Öland to begin field work. These were from this morning:

167 Common Eider
168. Collared Flycatcher
169. Common House Martin
170. Eurasian Wryneck
171. Red-breasted Merganser
172. Common Scoter
173. Arctic Tern
174. Long-tailed Duck
175. Caspian Tern
176. Eurasian Oystercatcher
177. Sandwich Tern

Today I drove over to the Ohio River Valley to chase a potential state lifer. I quickly found my target, as well as four other additions to my West Virginia Year List, all birds I saw last March in Mexico.

278. Franklin’s Gull

The gull was my 288th species for West Virginia and my third state lifer of the year.

Dave

It never stopped raining all morning, but during some periods of light drizzle I was able to pick up a couple of new birds for the year.

279. Dunlin
280. Northern Parula

The Dunlin is quite scarce in my area and is a bird I could easily miss, so I was happy and relieved to see it.

Dave

The weather has been much cooler than normal for the last week or so, so migration has been relatively slow. This morning I was only able to find one new species.

281. Palm Warbler

Dave

Despite cool temperatures and rain, I managed to see three new birds this morning.

282. Bobolink
283. Rose-breasted Grosbeak
284. Blackburnian Warbler

Dave

After almost a week of chilly and rainy weather, we finally had a warm, sunny day. Bird activity therefore picked up considerably. I added another five species to my Year List.

285. Red-eyed Vireo
286. Chimney Swift
287. Scarlet Tanager
288. American Redstart
289. Yellow-throated Vireo

Dave

A few warblers slowly showing up. We don't get that many. I'm still missing Chestnut Sided for the county, but not for the state.
