Sunday was only the second time there has been a multiple presence of Grey Plover on the reserve, following a flock of six that dropped into the Flashes just before dusk on the 7th October 1991.

We are currently on course for this May to be the first in the reserve's recorded history that Redshank has not been noted.

Also we are seeing a dramatic decline in Common Tern this year. Normally by this time we would have double figures on site. The tern rafts are launched late May but in the absence of any terns there is no point. But come what may we will be launching them next Tuesday . Fingers crossed that they appear pretty soon. :-C

We are currently on course for this May to be the first in the reserve's recorded history that Redshank has not been noted.

I have been advised by Vern that there is an entry for Redshank in the North Moors hide log book so this unwanted record is avoided by the skin of its teeth.

The next 36 hours probably sees our last chance of spring passage with warm muggy weather tomorrow supported by easterly winds and rain from 2pm (thunder at times) throughout the night with heavy cloud cover and southerly winds on Friday morning before the wind moves more westerly.
