Poachers using photo geo locations (1 Viewer)

South African National Parks are asking tourists to disable the geo locator function when they post photos.

Poachers have been using live posts to 'race' to the scene of tourists sightings with a view to following and killing the animals.

It's also been stated that the use of geo tagging in real time posts, is being used by other tourists who are in the same park, to race to new sightings which is leading to increased incidents of animals being killed in collisions, this new behaviour has been branded the 'Ferrari safari'.

Wonder if it would be possible to turn the tables and use this new development to lay a trap for the poachers. Would be useful to be able to lure them somewhere where they could be dealt with appropriately.

A good idea but I don't see how you could target their devices specifically which is what you'd have to do?

No you wouldn't, just geotag photos and then lay up for them at the location with the ol' Claymore/Browning 50 cal/M134 Minigun :t:

Two benefits: One, direct removal of gullible poachers; two, increased suspicion by survivors of data they obtain.
