Identify this bird of prey (1 Viewer)

Hi,

I wonder if anybody can help me identify this bird of prey. I saw it whilst walking by the Basingstoke canal, It settled quite low on a branch, then swooped down, then up again to settle on another tree. It did not fly high as if needing to be low to identify prey.

It looks like a common buzzard, but not sure. The three images show a side on, a rear view and a reasonable one in flight.

I would appreciate if an expert out there could help!

Thanks

Looks a bit like a Red-tailed hawk to me? Probably just a a Buzzard showing some red brown colour in its tail and primaries.

Common Buzzard for me too. IIRC Red-tailed Hawk (which can occur as a falconers escape) has obviously stouter legs than CB; this bird doesn't.
