Had this very pale aberrant plumaged female teal at Hunterston, North Ayrshire today.
Is it a known individual ?
Is this aberration common ?

I'm wondering if the bird is sitting in strong sunshine compared to the birds below it. In the second photo, the top of the drake's head seems to be catching stronger sunlight than the rest of the bird. Also reflection of the subject bird looks stronger than the other birds, with some of the lighter areas looking to have a little glare.

I may be totally wrong of course. It may be worth posting the photos on the Bird Identification Q&A pages, as they will get a much wider audience there.
