Hummingbird identification (1 Viewer)

Filmed this hummer in my yard today. I live in central alabama. I've had ruby red throated hummingbirds before, but have never seen these. I have a small groupings of these, around 10, that have been in my yard for around a month now. Can someone please help identify?

Juveniles or females. Only adult males have fully red throats.

As Fugl points out, only adult males show the full emblazoned gorget. Occasionally, juvenile males will show a few gorget feathers, the distinctive ruby color. It's very difficult to see, requires a close view to detect. Tails are distinctive in the adults, but juveniles are usually wintering when molt occurs. Ruby-throated id >Here<

I've been doing this for about ten yrs now. I would only get about three birds a summer. BUT, I'd always see atleast one male. This year is different, as I have a TON more, and haven't seen a single male, hence, me thinking they weren't ruby reds I had this summer.

They usually come at beginning of August, and will move along around OCtober.

1) do y'all anticipate me getting a male, or will I just have a ton of juvis and females this year?

Probably not now, unfortunately - the adult males tend to migrate south a bit earlier than the juveniles.
