Elegant Trogon? (1 Viewer)

Have there been any attempts to encourage Elegant Trogons to use nest boxes? A quick google search lends the information that they nest in woodpecker cavities, so shouldn't they easily take to a birdhouse?

I am by no means an expert on Trogons. In the Huachuca mountains of Arizona they nest in the cavities of Sycamore trees. Over the last 15 years or so the population in the Huachuca’s has grown at a fairly rapid pace. Not sure how or why nestboxes would be needed or used.

There are many hole nesters that won't take readily to boxes, many Owls for example. Some tour companies have invested a lot of time in places, attempting to get certain Owl species, Tengmalms's for one, to use their boxes so as to be able to take customers there.
