Lesser whitethroat race - North Wales (1 Viewer)

Hi there, Yes I,d say that is a lesser whitethroat and probabily the first I,ve ever seen on a feeder, race wise I,m not sure of but It would be quite a late record here in derbyshire thou it would not
be the latest record, sorry I can,t help you with the race.

The blythi Lesserthroat that wintered in Tynemouth a few years ago was a regular bird table visitor. But to get the subspecies ID of this bird - pick up some pooh and send it off for analysis. That's how the Tynemouth bird was confirmed (tho' strong suspicions beforehand).

Being trivial - I love the chaffinch that changes into a goldfinch! Sound recording of the LW is almost as much use as DNA if you can get one

I didn't spot that, magic birds.

FYI this bird attracted some attention and has now had metrics measured and DNA samples taken /sent off.
