2014 - Can I see 1000 species? (1 Viewer)

Just trolling the latest posts and find my thread had been updated! Thanks Carol!

Oo-er, forgot I'd threatened to add more pics..... I will do this in due course, maybe even in the next week or so! Friday week we are off to Botswana, so beginning to gather stuff for that right now!

I'm also desperately trying to achieve this year's target of ringing 1000 birds. Am over 700, but both spring (0) and autumn (18 so far) migration of Swallows has been disastrous here, so am relying on winter Finches I guess!

You may have followed my frustration of missing Short-eared Owl last year - well of course I saw one at Farlington on 4th April this year......

I haven't added up this year's total, but I'll post it later in the year to compare!

Hi Jon,

In Mabamba, this morning, with 2 friends you know... ;)

Hope you are not too jealous 3:)

Cheers !! B :)

Just seen (thanks Larry) that the New Zealand Robins have been split. So should be able to add one. But in owning up mode, I noticed a while back that I had recorded another species twice, so the score stays the same.....
More pics soon, honest Carol!

Hi Jon and all,

This morning, a nice White-winged Swamp Warbler in the same spot where we found it together. My first decent photo of that secretive bird...

Greetings from Kampala!

Didn't we see that and then run for cover when it started raining?! Thibaut stayed and clinched the pics! Lovely place to stay!

Hi John,

I remain very interested in your additional pictures, whenever you have the time to finish this thread. :t:

However, I appreciate that you now have your new Botswana thread !! ;);)

I am pleased that you got your Short Eared Owl this year.
Looking at my Bird Track records for the year, Rob and I saw 1 on the 2nd April this year, at Hardley Staithe. Our only one this year. They are such stunning birds and I love to watch them in flight. I hope that we will get to see another soon ... and hope that you get to see more soon, too o:D

I also hope that you achieve your ringing target for this year.
Rob and I were surprised, when out in the field for a long birding day last Sunday, on the East Coast of Norfolk, to still be seeing swallows, when the ones at our home, inland, flew away weeks ago. Hope that migration is pushing up your ringing totals ...

Will be interesting to hear how your year total compares with last year... :t:

Best wishes, Carol
