Birdsong ID in Sault Ste Marie, Ontario, Canada (1 Viewer)

Hello,

I'd be so grateful if anyone could identify this bird for me. Recorded in the early evening tonight, in Sault Ste Marie in Northern Ontario.

I apologize for the poor quality of the recording! It was a repeating call of one lower note, and then three (or four?) of a higher note. Very clear, and maybe a bit trilling on the higher notes.

A friend suggested that it might be a chickadee, and upon listening to a few recordings on YouTube, I heard some similar notes (like the "cheeseburger" call) but never in this combination.

If you can help, I'd appreciate it so much! Thank you!

Hi Jill,

this is a White-throated Sparrow. You described the song very well; I guessed what it was before I listened to your recording.
