Can anyone help me with an i.d. of this bird and let me know it's salient features? Thanks.

It looks to me like a Willet, in flight did you notice black on the wing with a paler trailing edge?? The bill is quite long and straight and the bird as you have pointed out is overall grey.

The heavy looking bill with a greyish base and the thick, long greyish legs all indicate Willett, as does the rather plain plumage and especially the predominently plain tail (this latter feature pointing towards a western bird).
