Hockey et al. (eds.), 2005, Roberts Birds of Southern Africa, VIIth edn., p. 957, has, "Arnot's Chat Myrmecocichla arnoti ... Named after David Arnot, an attorney at Colesberg, who contributed fossil reptiles, mammals, birds and insects to the South African Museum. Spelling of arnotti corrected to arnoti by Winterhouse & Skead, 1965, Ostrich 36: 147."

Intriguingly, H Chittenden, G Davies & I Weiersbye (2016, Roberts Bird Guide, 2nd edn: 464) list as Arnott's Chat Myrmecocichla arnotti with the following etymology: arnotti = after David Arnott (1822–1894), attorney and naturalist; ... Alt name Arnot's Chat

Well spotted, Melanie! :t:

Imagine if they all were that easy!

A good reminder; to always, always start with the OD itself.

Cheers

Björn

PS. Just curious (no doubts); where did you pick up the "Luiz" part in the (full) name of Mr Teixeira? I haven't seen it written this way before (except on Wiki, of course). On ResearchGate (as well as in the OD) he is simply "Dante Martins Teixeira". Not to confuse with Sr. Alysson Luiz Martins Teixeira. ;)

Some notes to Nesillas lantzii

This name refers to Jean Auguste Lantz, a French naturalist, who lived from 1828 to 1893.

http://www.alsacemonde.org/wp-content/uploads/Bojanus-Bull-SHF-161-2017.pdf

The Eponym Dictionary of Birds claims:

Vanga genus Lantzia Hartlaub, 1877 NCR [Now in Schetba]
Lantz's Sparrowhawk Accipiter lantzii J. Verreaux, 1866 NCR [Alt. Madagascar Sparrowhawk; JS Accipiter madagascariensis]
Lantz's Brush Warbler Nesillas lantzii Grandidier, 1867 [Alt. Subdesert Brush Warbler]
Auguste Lantz (DNF) was a French naturalist. He was a taxidermist at the MNHN, Paris (1862), and Curator of the Natural History Museum on Réunion (1863–1893). He explored and collected in Madagascar with Grandidier (q.v.) (1865–1867).
