Snowy conditions again today so of to the closest place to do our birding, Whitlingham Broad C P. was half covered in ice (see picture 1) this brought the birds even closer.

The last few from home, we get approx 12 goldfinch at a time, which is great to see, A unexpected surprise today was the Song Thrush sitting in a tree, first time we have seen one from our home

RSPB Strumpshaw Fen

The Fen was completely Frozen, first time we had seen it like this (pictures 1 & 2), Not so cold today but the snow on the ground made it heavy going in places, has we approached the pump station there were lots of wigeon on the river and also on the bank and marsh

RSPB Minsmere

Our first visit to RSPB Minsmere this year, A nice day the sun even came out, to slow to get pictures of the Nuthatch and the Smew where to far away so just 2 to add to my list, Also included a nice picture of a robin who just wanted his picture taken

Lackford Lakes Suffolk

Rutland Water

A great day spent going round both reserves on South Shore, over 50 species seen, No picture but a Red Kite went right over our heads so close but so quite, Back home to Norfolk tomorrow but a great 3 days break

Buckenham Marshes

Spent the morning at Buckenham Marshes, Really great to see so many birds on the marshes over 30 species seen including Widgeon, Redshank, Teal, Lapwing, Heron, Greylag, Canada Geese and up to 5 Little Egrets,

RSPB Minsmere Suffolk

A cracking day at Minsmere, lots of highlights the spoonbill our first swallow of the year, 50+ sand martins just outside the visitor centre busy building there nests and last but not least watching the bittern from bittern hide booming and feeding for a good 30 minutes

RSPB Strumpshaw Norfolk

A early evening walk around RSPB Strumpshaw, never seen so many Reed Buntings altogether before a lovely site must have been 15-20, Black headed gulls busy building there nests, only saw peacock butterflies but during the day orange tip had been reported

RSPB Minsmere

A bright but cold wind today, plenty of birds at Minsmere a lifer for us was the Montagu's Harrier has it flew overhead has we headed for island Mere, Plenty of Martins, Swifts and Swallows filled the air, 4 to add to my list
