Mourning Doves (1 Viewer)

As usual, we were running mist nets "This Week at Hilton Pond" as part of our on-going bird banding research. When we caught an adult male Mourning Dove we were reminded we never had written about three doves we banded last year that were reported by hunters early in September 2009. With that in mind, we turned our camera lens on the dove we had just caught and took lots of images of external attributes one isn't likely to see on a bird at a feeder. To view the Mourning Dove photo essay for 1-10 June 2010 and to read about the hunters' harvest, please visit http://www.hiltonpond.org/ThisWeek100601.html

Happy Nature Watching!
