Experiences with Nokia Lumia 1020 for phonescoping (1 Viewer)

Hi

I would like to hear from birders who have tried phonescoping with new cameraphone Nokia Lumia 1020.

Or have heard of any useful reviews on this matter.

I am considering buying one but am frightened by the fact that according to a danish review saying: "The creative photo work is being challenged by the fact that the camera takes 2-3 seconds to start up before it is ready to shoot, and that you have to wait 3-4 seconds after each shot before you can take another shot."

If this is true it is clearly a disadvantage when digiscoping.

In hope of lots of response, best wishes, Rune

Hello Rune,

While briefly looking through the specs, there are two drawbacks from making it an ideal digiscoping camera, it seems that (and i hope i am wrong about this)....:

- The info/specification doesn't say that it saves images in raw, so i guess it saves the large 38MP images in jpeg. I don't know if you can move the large images to your computer and show them there...?

- You can't manually save your own whitebalance like when you have it on the scope & put a whitebalance filter in front to compensate for scope optics, you can only choose between already defined settings.

Maybe there will be a future app that will fix these drawbacks :)

Has anyone seen if there is a digiscoping adapter, like the kowa adapter for iphone, for this phone yet ?

There is a Lumia 1520 on the way with a 20MP sensor & 1/2.5" sensor....

Anders
