As a newbie to the forum and only having seen this sight I thought it would be good to list what I have seen either when I've been out walking at lunchtime and when out on the site. In addition I will list those seen in the garden.

27 Jan 11

On site:

1. Buzzard
2. Pheasant
3. Long Tailed Tits
4. Blue tits
5. Crows

In Garden:

6. Sparrows
7. Robin
8. Starlings
9. Blackbird
10. Ringed Dove
11. Wood pigeon
12. Wren

and spot of the day a Wren on the fence.

That's it for today.......oh for tomorrow

Can anyone tell me what the numbers are for? Do they just start from 1 at the beginning of the year or is there any other significance

Stopped off at Priorslee Balancing Lake, just off J4 of M54 nr Telford on way home from work and spotted the following:

17 Coot (Fulica atra)
18 Moorhen (Gallinula chloropus)
19 Mute Swan (Cygnus olor)
20 Lesser Black Backed Gull (Larus fuscus)
21 Mallard (Anas platyrhynchos)
22 Pochard (Aythya ferina)
23 Herring Gull (Larus argentatus)
24 Ring necked Duck (Aythya collaris).

Priorslee Balancing Lake 1345-1530

Went to try out mates Opticron scope and my own new Opticron 10 x 42 Binos. Had reasonably good time until pillock came along with kyak and paddled straight through ice to where birds were. Absolutely furious at the guy but he took no notice.

27 Little Gull (Hydrocoloeus minutus)

28 Bullfinch (Male) (Pyrabulla pyrabulla) Stunning reddish pink breast.

On site, in hide in conservation area. Weather sunny but cold. Had good hours spotting today.

Haven't had any new sightings until today. Went to Venus Pool nr Shrewsbury today for the 1st time and saw the following:

36. Canada Goose (Branta canadensis)
37. Black Headed Gull (Chroicephalus ridibundus)
38. Greylag Goose (Anser anser)
39. Cormorant (Phalacrocorax carbo)
40. Lapwing (vanellus vanellus)
41. Shelduck (Tadorna tadorna)
42. Ringed Plover (Charadrius hiaticula)
43. Oyster Catcher (Haematopus ostralegus)
44. Sand Martin (Riparia Riparia)
45. Reed Bunting (Emberiza shoeniclus)

Really good site and hides.

Have been out several times but with no new birds to report. Last spotting day of this year was 29 Dec at Venus Pool, lots of Teal in winter plummage.
