Scanning around the web while working in Salford this weekend I found this forum and thought that I would join and say hello - (Hopefully on my way up to Martin Mere later on this afternoon - although the weathers a tad on the gale force windy side today, mind makes a change from persistent rain and gloomy skies yesterday).

Having just moved from Staffordshire to Worcetershire, Upton Warren Nature Reserve has become my new local patch (only anout 5 mins from home) so it has become my second home - maybe the forum will be my third home!

Hello there and a warm welcome to you from those of us on staff here at BirdForum :t:

We're glad you found us and please join in wherever you like.

Hello and welcome.
I have even been known to visit Worcester in search of birds. I did find some Swans and Gulls on the river.

Upton Warren is a great spot, but also check out Grimley and Holt and the Wyre Forest. Wood Sandpipers at Holt last week and Lesser spotted Woodpecker and Crossbills in the Wyre Forest yesterday.

Thanks for the Upton Warren namecheck. It's just about the same distance from me as Slimbridge so it's going on my list.

Welcome to BF Chas :t:

If you go to the Local Patches Forum on here, there's a thread called 'West Midlands/Warwickshire Local Patches', often Worcs patches such as Upton Warren and Wyre Forest are also covered. Shenstone (especially Heath Lane)is a very good place to visit, Grey Partridge and Corn Bunting are resident there.

Kstar_76, I'll have a look at the local patches section.
AlanR, Upton Warren has become a well loved local spot for me.
jackied, I will check out your suggestions, thanks for the heads up.
