I have a tough enough time with ID'ing birds, much less the insect I occasionally photograph.

I realize this is a "honeybee" but what is the proper taxonomic name?

I would say it's probably a Western Honey Bee Apis mellifera.

Yeah, that's the only Apis in this part of the US.
