A 2nd Lens for wider angle & video?

I use a Canon 7D & 400mm f5.6 Lens & as all my shots are in woodland or in my garden, this is the only gear I'll ever need.

However, although I can get stunning shots, like that of the Jays below, when it comes to getting a wider angle to include more than one bird in a shot, &/or good quality video clips of the same, I only have a wee bridge camera to fall back on, a Panasonic FZ150, which only produces video like this, which is fine, but I'd love to get better quality.

Jays in Woodland

Can anyone recommend a good lens for my 7D for such shots & videos?

Cheers,
Dick

A zoom would give you flexibility, the ones that come immediately to mind are the Canon 70-200 f2.8 or 100-400m Mk11. but there must be 3rd party ones worth considering too.

The 100-400 II replacing the 5.6/400 would be a perfect solution, of course, but at a stiff price. And you are understandably happy with your gear.
Hence I would recommend a Canon EF-S 55-250 STM (http://www.canon.co.uk/for_home/prod...f4-5.6_is_stm/): This little gem is sharp, quick, silent, compact, light, and IMHO darn cheap compared to its performance. I sold mine only because I bought a 100-400 II.
