Vietnam - female Siberian Blue Robin or female Orange flanked Robin (1 Viewer)

I cannot decide which (both are listed as being present here, both are this colour and both can have blue tails) and keep wavering between these two species. I am tending more towards the first species, based on images in Robson. This bird alternated between sitting in low branches (1-2m above ground) and feeding on the ground, in a wooded but grassy area. Thanks in advance,

Wayne

Hi Wayne, yes Bluetail (Red-flanked Bush Robin). Females in winter have very little orange, and behaviour fits very well with Bluetail. Sib. Blue Robins stay on the ground most of the time.
Cheers, Florian

Cool thanks Florian, but do you mean Orange flanked bush robin?

Kiwiguy, with splitting and name changes its now called Red-flanked not Orange-flanked. The split created a Himalayan Bluetail which makes it into N Thailand in winter, not sure if they make it into Vietnam as well.

Sorry for the confusion: yes: Orange-flanked Bush Robin is now Red-flanked Bluetail (with the flanks remaining orange though ;) )
