Birding in Charleston

Had a marvellous days birding in Charleston. Luckily, the day before they were hit by major floods.
We were taken around by Dennis Forsythe who was very knowledgeable and an excellent guide.
He is winding down from guiding birdwatchers but if you are in Charleston for the day would be well worth contacting. PM me for his contact details.

Hi, Jeanie -
Dennis is one of the great birders in the Charleston area. I walked with him many years ago in the Savannah, Georgia, area at a dredge spoil site and found him to be an inexhaustible source of botanical and birding knowledge. While on that walk and with his help, I collected seeds from a hackberry tree locally known as sugarberry (celtis leavigata). Today, 6 of those slow growing trees are 15 feet high and on their way to producing fruits that so many birds love. Of course, Dennis comes to mind whenever I look at them.
You did well to connect with him.

Steve

You are correct Steve. We were very lucky. His wife joined us in the afternoon and was also very helpful
