Bessie Mountford's invalid Grey-crowned Babbler (1 Viewer)

While somewhat sceptical looking at the colour Grey in the (not-very) Grey-crowned Babbler I stumbled upon ...

mountfordae as in:
• the invalid subspecies "Pomatostomus temporalis mountfordæ" DEIGNAN 1950 (Note: full OD* unseen, by me!)

Simply trusting, following the HBW Alive Key entry:
mountfordae
Bessie Ilma Mountford née Johnstone (fl. 1976) Australian civil servant, womens rights activist, second wife of anthropologist Charles Pearcy Mountford (1890-1976) (syn. Pomatostomus temporalis rubeculus).
... ending up with Bessie Ilma Mountford (18901996) :eek!: ... that´s old, very old!, second wife of Charles Pearcy Mountford (1890-1976), whom she married 28 October 1933 ... and even if they were born the same year, and he became 86 years old, she apparently survived him by 20 years!

A Photo from 1940 of the Lady in question (sitting on a Camel) is found here.

Also see here, foot-note, bottom page, and elsewhere on the internet. She´s quite easy to find.

For what it´s worth!

Björn

Additional (more) info on Bessie Mountford [i.e. Bessie Ilma Mountford née Johnstone (1890-1996)], second wife of Mr. Charles Mountford ...

From the State Library of South Australia entry for her (more famous) husband:
Charles Pearcy Mountford (1890-1976), OBE, Dip. Anthrop. (Cantab), MA (Adel.), D. Litt (Melbourne and Adelaide), was an ethnologist and anthropologist who advanced from amateur status to become an important figure in the field of anthropology in Australia. He was born at Hallett in 1890 and joined the General Post Office in 1913. He married Florence Julge Purnell (1891-1925) in 1914; and Bessie Ilma Johnstone (1890-1996) in 1933. His field work was conducted in South Australia, Western Australia and the Northern Territory from 1925-1963. His published works were based on the journals and photographs he made on these expeditions. Mountford was a founding member, and later president of the Anthropological Society of SA; and founder of the Australian Anthropological Society in 1936. Mountford's archive was initially created by his friend Harold Sheard, and donated to the State Library of South Australia in 1957. Mountford added material, and in the 1960s the collection was organised and much of it underwent processing in the bindery within the Library, under his direction. Harold L Sheard was born 17 October 1890 and died 4 February 1975.

[here, below Info]
And; as James seems to hesitate on her looong life; she apparently died the 29th of May (1996), but no definite, exact date found on her birth.

Either way; according to Australian Dictionary of Biography (again regarding her husband):
"On 28 October 1933 at the Gartrell Memorial Methodist Church, Rose Park, he married Bessie Ilma Johnstone, a 42-year-old civil servant."

[here]
Looks like she was born in November/December (1890), doesn´t it?
