Collins British Bird Guide?

Hi guys,
Its been a while since i was on here due to life, work and things. But Iv been trying to find this book which i thought came out a year or two ago?
Being British Birds only would be ideal for me as the Collins Bird Guide I have now, which is the first edition from 1999, has a lot more in it than i need.
I thought if anyone knew where i might get a copy you guys would. so if you could point me in the right direction id be grateful.
Many thanks guys.

There were plans to bring out a cut down version of Collins Bird Guide with just British birds but the publishing date was repeatedly put back and the last year it was cancelled.

Thanks mono that's disappointing, I was looking forward to that one.
Are there any good replacements for it with nice paintings instead of photos?

Do you really want a book Colin? Their phone app is excellent and from what I can see most of the images are paintings.

Though someone's bound to know different LOL.

The British version has made it as an app on iOS at least.

Not paintings but try Ornithopedia Europe. This is an android app which is free, and I prefer it to the Collins. You can download it on Windows using Bluestacks as a vehicle. Probably wouldn't work on Apple because of their restrictive practices.

Thanks for the replies guys.
Hi Delia I do like a nice book to browse, though I had thought about an app too but it doesn't have the same feel for me as a book .
But I will have a look at the apps you guys have suggested.
Thanks all.

Might be the sort of thing you're looking for - though it is photos rather than paintings.

Oh, sorry they are two quite different one's. Easy to go blind on author's and titles, note: pages & species ...

Both sound great books, but there seems so many. I wonder what the favourite of everyones here is.
Seeing the most popular will help me decide as there's so many out there

Colin
I would guess it has more to do with the developer simply not having made a version for iOS than Apple's practices. The Peru field guide has been made into an excellent application that is, unfortunately, iOS only. I don't assume they did that because of Google's policies, but rather some other mundane reason.
