It is old news, but it was new to me, and I thought I would pass it along.
It seems that Canon was shipped bad ccd's for a lot of their Powershot cameras, starting with the A70. Over time, purple lines would start appearing on the lcd, then onto the images.
Canon eventually decided to recall and replace the cameras affected free of charge.

I almost tossed my A70 since it had been over a years since I was able to use it, and had purchased another model.
Now I am glad to hear that I will have a "free" digiscoping camera to start into the hobby.
My parent's also replaced their defective A95 with a new model, and now will have two cameras. Maybe I will trade them!
