We drove from Fort Lauderdale to Tampa/St Petersburg this week to meet friends and enjoy the beach.

It’s about a four hour drive with a lot of great road side viewing of birds the cattle and great egrets (countless) always standout. A highlight was two swallow tail kites on the west end of alligator alley.

On the I275 between Tampa and St Pete I counted 19 Osprey on the way over (10 mike stretch ) Today that was topped with 26! There were also pelicans and cormorants perched along the light posts across the stretch.

The beach had many sightings including a first for me, which was a pair of black skimmers. Other sightings included gulls, ibis, least tern, frigate, and great blue heron.

That sounds like so much fun. It's nice you and your family were able to enjoy the drive and the wild birds along the way. Thanks for sharing. ~ Jo Ann
