Hi all. I spotted two of these darker-plumaged gulls today.

From what I understand, the Heuglini species\subspecies is another option, though I'm not sure these two are large enough to qualify for a Heuglin.

Would appreciate any opinion or input on this. Thanks in advance.

I'm wondering if L.f.intermedius might be a contender (images 1 and 3), as there appears to be contrast between primaries and mantle, L.f.fuscus I believe, would be continuously black to the upper-parts?

Cheers

Good point, Ken. The individual on the left in the first picture is also lighter plumaged than the one on the right.
