Best bird book for South Africa? (1 Viewer)

Hello all,

I'd like to buy my boyfriend a bird guide for his birthday, for South African birds, but I'm not sure which is the best one currently out there - please help!

Sappi has one for South Africa and SASOL for Southern Africa, and both seem to have good reviews. Similar price range too, so I'm torn.

Hoping someone can assist?

Regards,
Tracy

Tracy, I lived in SA for 43 years and used a SASOL guide for as long as I can remember. If he is a beginner birder then the SASOL is great. If he is a little more advanced (and you can afford it) then maybe ROBERTS guide for iPad is fantastic as it has loads of info, sounds, videos too. Hope that helps
