Easy load log feeder (1 Viewer)

I have used log feeders for many years and came up with a neat idea. I use an apple corer. Drill holes in a log the size of the apple corer. Mix your suet mix and when hardened, cut out pieces to fit the drilled holes with the corer. I use two or three logs of different length and number of holes.

Neat tip, nice pileated. You are of course lucky to have them.

I'am lucky, they have been coming to the deck for 12 years. They bring the young ones. I see one most days and can get very close to them as they wait for me to add suet to the logs.

Normally a very human-shy bird of the mature forests, at least where I live, your success is of course remarkable. And they should keep the carpenter ants off your house and trees!
