Only my fifth night for sugaring last night...wasn't expecting this in the middle of June. Extraordinary date?

County Recorder confirms three weeks ahead of previous Cornish earliest he can find: 9 July. How bizarre in this (cool, wet) summer of all summers!

In my experience they emerge in early June and then enter aestivation, becoming active again later in the year. Perhaps the current cool weather means they don't need to do that.
