Two yesterday's moths from Latvia - the conformist (I guess ssp. furcifera) and Blepharita amica.

It was nice to find this Acleris schalleriana on the front door yesterday evening, the first moth to reach the garden for a few weeks. It also happens to be the 400th species I've recorded in the garden since starting in early 2010! Now all I need is a Convolvulous Hawk-moth to celebrate the occasion with.

You deserve a Convolvulous Hawk-moth - 400 species in such a short time!

A few recent ones from my garden trap.
I was surprised to find Buff Ermine resting outside the trap this morning.

There seem to be quite a few immigrant moths being recorded - although I have to say that we have clear skies here so how many will come to a trap I'm not sure.

Nights are getting quite cold over here in Latvia. It was only ~7 degrees on monday night, high humidity, no clouds. Still decided to set up my light 'trap' (first time since July). All I got was 9 moths.

8 macros (Feathered thorn - 4, Eppiritia sp. - 4) and 1 micro (Epinotia trigonella).

I have had few moths over this past week, despite the warm nights, but masses of midges in the boxes, where are the moths, I did however have my very first Vestal
this morning, thought this was quite special, until I looked to see how common it is. Still I was pleased.

We've had warm nights recently and plenty of interesting moths. Some of the best from my garden have been:

Beautiful Marbled (new)|=)|
Beautiful Gothic
Autumnal Rustic
Black Rustic
Brindled Green (new)
Flame Brocade
Sombre Brocade
Feathered Brindle
Sallow
Dusky-lemon Sallow (new)
