Wood Pigeon - Nesting/incubation (1 Viewer)

Hello,

New on here so hope I get this right.
About 3 days ago we noticed we have a wood pigeon nesting in a tree in our garden.

We have only seen one bird and it appears to have been sat on the nest for 3 days without moving. There are other wood pigeons in the area but this one appears to be alone - is this normal. We thought the birds shared nesting `duties' and l understand it is a few weeks for incubation.

Any advice on feeding or do we just leave it alone.

Probably the partner is dead. Or foraging.

Keep an eye on the nest. From the architectural point of view wood pigeons are not very good at building nests. Sometimes, especially on windy days, their nests tend to go south.

Thanks for responses - apologies for delay in replying (other life events took over!!).

Second bird appeared a few days ago - they now appear to be sharing duties. Nest is secure - it is in a small maple tree about 8ft above ground in domestic garden. Hatching time should be close.
