how do you tell the diff? which bird is usually larger and which bird often gets the better pearching spots on rocks? I cant tell the diff...
 
Double-crested: orange throat, orange face, orange to light gray bill, angular head, long tail.
Brandt's: pale buff throat, dark face, dark gray bill, rounded head, short tail.
And then there's Pelagic: black throat, very thin grayish bill, dark to bright red face, long tail.
