Today's highlights

Marsh tit - 1 on feeders
Velvet scoter - 19 offshore
Great Northern diver - 2 offshore
Avocet - 36 on fresh marsh
Water pipit - 1 on drained grazing meadow pool
Hen harrier - ringtail east mid afternoon.

I am off for a few days so no updates until early next week

Today's highlights

Red crested pochard - 5 on Patsy's reedbed
Chiffchaff - at least 8 birds in the scrub woodland today
Water pipit - 1 on drained grazing meadow pool
Velver scoter - 11 offshore
Short eared owl - 1 west offshore @ 11:15

We will be managing the fresh marsh islands on Wednesday and will be causing significant disturbance during the day.

Today's highlights

Crane - 7 west over reserve @ 10:35 then back east @ 11:35
Med gull - 4 on fresh marsh this afternoon
Red crested pochard - 8 on Patsy's reedbed
Red kite - 5 west over reserve today
Chiffchaff - at least 15 feeding around the dragonfly pool this afternoon
Avocet - 70 on fresh marsh

Today's highlights

Red flanked bluetail - 1st winter/female on Meadow Trail this afterrnon showing well at times. Not quite what I was expecting to see today. 1st confirmed record for the reserve
Jack snipe - 1 on drained grazing meadow pool this morning
Velvet scoter - 1 offshore
Sandwich tern - 1st record on the year this morning
Wheatear - 2 this morning
Blackcap - 3 singing males this morning
Avocet - 76 on fresh marsh
Water pipit - 3 on drained grazing meadow pool
Red kite - 4 west
Bittern - 1 near Fen Hide

A few cropped shots of the magnificant Red-flanked Bluetail at Titchwell RSPB yesterday. Very, very elusive and time needs to be allowed to even get a glimpse!

Little ringed plover - 1 on drained grazing meadow pool
Water pipit - 2 on drained grazing meadow pool
Long tailed duck - 11 offshore
Red crested pochard - 9 around the reserve
Med gull - 2 adults on fresh marsh

Eddie M. counted 101 Med. Gulls with Sue B. and I this evening, from Island Hide at Titchwell RSPB!!! I've never seen such a large number before! Cuckoo calling and I had fabulous views of 2 Turtle Doves at Choseley Drying Barns earlier on.

Mahsleb I the Little Terns haven't returned quite yet. Little terns are currently gathering in coastal areas but they haven't gone to their nesting sites yet. If you live in Leiston I would a trip to Minsmere anytime now should produce sightings of a few Little Terns on the scrapes.

Agreed not Winterton or North Denes but according to the recently published Blakeney NNR report, Little Terns were on the Point, where they breed, on 21st April. which is 3 days earlier than last year.
