Does any member have any knowledge of these bins?

I'm looking at a pair of 8X35's and was wondering about the FOV and edge sharpness.

The seller claims they preceed the SE's, (Ebay) and use to be Nikons best.

Thanks and good viewing,
Raybo

The Gold Sentinels were available in the late 80's, perhaps into the early 90's. These were never Nikon's best binoculars. They were identical to the first Action Series, but with the addition of partial multi-coating. The 8x35 sold for about $100-$150. The biggest problem with the 8x35 was very short eye relief of around 10mm. The field was very wide (above 65 degrees Afov) and I recall that the center sharpness was excellent, but there was nothing special about the eyepiece so I doubt that the edge sharpness is particularly good. Construction was not up to the level of the E Series. I remember that the objective barrels were made of plastic. I think $50 would be the most I would pay for a mint pair.
