Bray Beach, Ireland, jellyfish-like creature (1 Viewer)

This creature was floating expired in the shallows at Bray Beach (near Dublin) today. Jellyfish-like, but no tentactles and a very solid, robust body. Any ideas as to what it is? I've never seen anything like it in these waters. (The second photo is of its underside.)

Looks like the remains of Rhizostoma octopus, the barrel jellyfish, which is far and away the most solid bodied of the British and Irish jellies, and has a four rayed symmetry. It has lost its tentacles completely.

Ah, thank you WP! Yes that sounds right, very pronounced 'quadrant' structure to the upper dome, whatever that's called! Sincerest thanks for quick response.
