Bibio marci ( St. Marks Fly )

As usual, none yesterday, and thousands today! They must be very sensitive to temperature as they were flying around all over the place one moment and the next, when a tiny little cloud skirted the sun, they were all down in the grass, only to reappear a couple of seconds later.

Damselfly :- Coenagrion puella, Azure Damselfly. A newly emerged one next to it's exuviae at Red Rocks marsh.

Earwig :- Forficula auricula, Common Earwig in garden.

I ( finally ) got round to calling in Red Rocks in the evening and managed to find two calling males. It's been a couple of years since they were last recorded at this site prompting the belief they had gone extinct.
