Early this morning I drove over to the Ohio River Valley to look for a pelican that showed up a couple of days ago. I quickly found my target, plus another new bird for the year.

Surprisingly late bird for me, but I have been closeted away for a while now while I finish up my thesis.
 
This evening after supper I heard a pair of owls duetting in the woods behind my house. I eased into the woods and got a glimpse of one in flight.
